There will be a band party this Friday, October 22, 2021 at Mountaineer Middle School from 6:00-7:30 p.m. The theme chosen by the 8th graders is “LUAU”! So, find your Hawaiian shirts and grass skirts and make sure to dress for the weather because the party will be outside. The boosters will provide pizza and snacks. This party is for MMS band members only. Check your email for more information and be sure to look for a sign-up genius to help out with additional items needed. And, as always, we need parent chaperones! Let us know if you’re able to help.

• The band will be traveling to perform in the Autumn Glory Festival parade in Oakland, Maryland on October 16, 2021.
• Arrive to Mountaineer Middle School at 9:30 a.m.
• Wear: black Dinkles shoes, black socks, uniform pants, blue band t-shirt. Bring uniform jacket, helmet, garment bag. Wear shorts or leggings under the uniform pants. Field commanders, majorettes, and silks should wear uniform as decided by their instructor.
• Bring all equipment/instruments.
• A sweatshirt to put on following the parade might be a good idea.
• Buses will leave MMS around 10:00 a.m.
• Students will eat a bagged lunch from home when we arrive in Oakland. Please send a lunch with your child. We will have snacks and waters available.
• The parade begins at 1:00 p.m.
• Following the parade, students will get back on the buses and will be taken to Penn Alps restaurant in Grantsville, Maryland for dinner, provided by the Band Boosters. Dinner will be around 5:00 p.m. It will be buffet-style. We will have a room in the restaurant to ourselves for dinner.
• Please send a note to Mr. Shaffer by Thursday, October 14, 2021 if you plan to sign your child out after the parade instead of having them ride the bus home so we can give an accurate count to the restaurant.
• If you plan to sign your child out after the parade, you’ll need to meet the band at the buses, retrieve your child’s items from the bus, and sign out with Mr. Shaffer.
• Arrive back to Mountaineer Middle School around 7:00-7:30 p.m. We will send out a remind message when we are 30 minutes from Morgantown.
• Students will wear masks on the buses and at the restaurant when they’re not eating.

• October 11, 2021
• Students should arrive at UHS in full uniform between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m.
  • Uniform pants, uniform jacket, helmet, black socks, black Dinkles shoes, blue band t-shirt
  • Majorettes/silks should wear uniform as decided by their instructor
• The band will practice with UHS and Westwood at 5:00 p.m.
• The band will perform at 6:00 p.m.
• Students will need to bring all equipment including flip folders
• Students will be dismissed to their parents following the performance
• The show will include thirteen middle school, high school, and college bands from northcentral West Virginia, and will feature “The Pride of West Virginia”, The Mountaineer Marching Band!
• Tickets are $10 for spectators. Mountaineer Middle band members do not need to purchase tickets.
