Autumn Glory Parade

  • The band will be traveling to perform in the Autumn Glory Festival parade in Oakland, Maryland on October 16, 2021.
  • Arrive to Mountaineer Middle School at 9:30 a.m.
  • Wear: black Dinkles shoes, black socks, uniform pants, blue band t-shirt. Bring uniform jacket, helmet, garment bag. Wear shorts or leggings under the uniform pants. Field commanders, majorettes, and silks should wear uniform as decided by their instructor.
  • Bring all equipment/instruments.
  • A sweatshirt to put on following the parade might be a good idea.
  • Buses will leave MMS around 10:00 a.m.
  • Students will eat a bagged lunch from home when we arrive in Oakland. Please send a lunch with your child. We will have snacks and waters available.
  • The parade begins at 1:00 p.m.
  • Following the parade, students will get back on the buses and will be taken to Penn Alps restaurant in Grantsville, Maryland for dinner, provided by the Band Boosters. Dinner will be around 5:00 p.m. It will be buffet-style. We will have a room in the restaurant to ourselves for dinner.
  • Please send a note to Mr. Shaffer by Thursday, October 14, 2021 if you plan to sign your child out after the parade instead of having them ride the bus home so we can give an accurate count to the restaurant.
  • If you plan to sign your child out after the parade, you’ll need to meet the band at the buses, retrieve your child’s items from the bus, and sign out with Mr. Shaffer.
  • Arrive back to Mountaineer Middle School around 7:00-7:30 p.m. We will send out a remind message when we are 30 minutes from Morgantown.
  • Students will wear masks on the buses and at the restaurant when they’re not eating.
